In addition to range of Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and traditional health plans offered nationwide, Anthem has also developed a selection of plans tailored to the unique needs of residents in the following states:
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- Kentucky
- Maine
- Nevada
- New Hampshire
- Ohio
- Virginia.
Residents of an Anthem state retain the option of Anthem’s PPO and traditional plans, while also gaining a choice from among the following:
- Blue Access Saver (HSA), a high-deductible plan that works in conjunction with a tax-advantaged health savings account from which members can draw funds to cover regular and unforeseen medical expenses. This is a PPO plan that allows members to visit in-network providers at lower out-of-pocket expenses than when they visit non-network providers.
- Blue Access Economy, a low-cost health care plan that offers members access to basic health care benefits. Members choose from a range of carryover deductibles, pay a predictable copay, and enjoy prescription drug coverage with savings when purchasing medication from Anthem’s formularies.
- Blue Preferred ® Primary (HMO), a health maintenance organization plan that gives members a choice of primary care physicians from within the region’s comprehensive physician and health facility network. Members save money and enjoy the convenience of visiting specialists without referrals.
- Blue Short Term, a plan designed to meet the needs of individuals and families temporarily without health care coverage. This plan may be elected at 30-day intervals, for up to 6 months.
- Anthem Senior Advantage (ASA), a health maintenance organization (HMO) plan that is Medicare-approved. Members choose, from the plan’s broad network of qualified local providers, a primary care physician who helps coordinate health routines so that members stay healthy and save money. ASA has been contracted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It is not a supplemental Medicare plan.
- Medicare Supplement Plans, a selection of supplemental plans designed to protect individuals with Medicare Plans A and B against shortfalls in their Medicare coverage. Members choose 1 out of 7 customized plans that range in deductible coverage, benefit levels, preventative services, and prescription coverage.
